Cows in Fog

A morning like this:

Cows in fog. Blue sky day.

Bookends

I’m a big fan of the sky. I love the way clouds scurry, skip, trip, traipse, flock, flee, and loiter across it in seemingly choreographed fashion. This morning’s arrangement gave me a somewhat profound pause.

Just because you can’t physically see something doesn’t mean it isn’t there. The sun isn’t visible here, but there’s a hint of it, a promise–and surety–of its’ arrival at the precisely right and appointed time. Much like the presence of God in my life. I don’t always see Him at work, but I catch glimpses, like rays of sunlight, casting assurance He is near, working all things together for my good.

Tonight’s sunset was just as meaningful as this mornings sunrise. A fitting bookend to a good day.

Blessed assurance. Comfort. Today is beautiful.

Daffys after dark

Today was a very productive but otherwise uneventful day. Meaning there wasn’t anything really exciting to snap a picture of. Or, in other words, I don’t want to use up all the #hairybeast snaps too early in the month.

So, another of my favorites instead. I adore daffodils. And it was bucketing rain tonight. The lighting is craptastic, but it’s truthful to what this daffy looked like at 8 pm.

Swimming. Caffeine. #hairybeasts. Productivity. Ribs. Rain.

Riding in cars with dogs

Well, technically, it’s only riding in car (singular) with dogs. But the other way sounds better.

Today ended up gorgeous. Blue sky, bright sunshine, lovely Vitamin D. Family breakfast. A solid nap. A short putter in the yard–to weed a bit, and to notice my dogwood is happy. I’d always wanted one, dogwood, and received this beauty as a present last year. [For the record, I love useful, practical gifts. And especially ones I don’t have to dust.]

After weeding, and admiring my happy little tree, I burned through two gallons of weed killer out in the back field. Blasted little camas roots. {grumble, grumble}

Then, off for a Sunday afternoon tradition: a ride to Dairy Queen for ice cream. The #hairybeasts love ice cream. I think it’s in the Top 10 things they love best, although I’m not sure what order it would go in…running, swimming, napping, digging, playing #dodgedog, ice cream, popcorn, cheez itz, hunting, bacon…

Birthdays

So, one half of the Old People is 80 years old today. And #babybeast is one year old. It’s been a day of celebrations. And cake. 🙂

Happy cake day. Yay for birthdays!
